Christine’s biweekly poetry party is an invitation to consider how the elements reveal God to us.

it is on the roadside
as we pass through hills that used to be
and the rock itself is folded over and over
and know that hands so powerful crafted me
it is as I stand beneath
a sky bejeweled
with thousands of flaming gas giants
and know the hands which scattered them, aligned my cells
it is as I smile at the multicolored arc
hanging in the last drops of rain
and know that the same God who named
this a sign of a promise
sees the baptismal cross on my forehead
the water-borne promise that I am Beloved
marked as Light for the World
