So often I wonder
as I stare at newly formed verse,
words set to dance on page,
at how I myself get caught
in the play of word with word
as between most skilled partners.
And, as ideas once more spin
new paths through my mind,
I know that I was not the one
who set this in motion.
At best I nudge them to spin
faster, further.
I, mere mortal,
am not up to such creation.
I but play with words already patterned.
And I watch.
And I marvel. written 4/2/08
In many parts of the Hebrew Scriptures scholars see the angel of the Lord as indistinguishable from God. Scripture, they argue, record the visit as from an angel or messenger out of respect for the complete otherness of God.

Thanks so much for your contribution to this week’s Poetry Party! I love the image playing with patterned words and appreciate the note about the angel and God.
