I promised one more post this week and had found something I was happy to post, but didn’t really want to post this week. And then I was scrolling through my blog feeder and realized that this is Christine’s Invitation to Poetry week over at Abbey of the Arts. Then I realized that I loved the prompt. So, today I wrote this.
We die,
this is the mortal condition,
and we are gone
only to live on
in heart and memory
of those to whom we were beloved
and even past that we linger
in the deeds and lives
of those we helped form.
Past that it must be enough
that righteous deeds are
never wholly forgotten
never blotted out,
never truly unknown. written 3/10/08
